Getting Better...

It's been 2 weeks since my ankle sprain and Wed. I finally went back to r-ball. I played a gal who's a beginner so I didn't have to move very much. Yesterday I played one of the regular guys and won easily but he was suffering from a sore elbow and hadn't played in a couple of weeks either, so it's hard to tell how well I was doing. Next week I hope to be back to full strength or at least play harder without so much pain. But Ican tell it's getting better even if the bruising doesn't look too good! Now if the pain would just go away!

Lesson Learned!

I already had orthotics in my r-ball shoes so thought I'd add gel insoles right before my tournament match, (without trying out the new inserts after I put them in). In the first game my foot rolled over a bit but it didn't hurt. In the 2nd game I rolled it again and knew it was bad when my right ankle hit the floor. That put me out of the match. Too much height caused an imbalance in my shoe so now I'm paying for it. Right after it happened it looked like my right ankle had a r-ball sticking out of it! Now the swelling is spread out all over the foot. Had to cancel all my r-ball games for this week and that's what really hurts! The lesson: Don't try changing things before a tournament game! ( At least play some practice games beforehand with the new changes). I'll see how umpiring goes tonight with a brace on it. School seems extra long now walking the halls ! Ah well, I've never been accused of thinking things through! Lesson (painfully) learned!

SPRING BREAK IN TEXAS!

WED. MARCH 24 We arrive! Haylie gave up her room for us!

I felt like a princess in her room

We visited the JFK Museum and Book Depository where Lee Harvey Oswald shot Pres. Kennedy.

The X on the road was where Pres. Kennedy's car was when he was shot.

Sitting on the curb across from the X.

THURS. MARCH 25 We went shopping at a produce store that carries many more things too called " SPROUTS". It's like our SUNFLOWER market here. We got some good food and treats! Then we traveled to a scarey part of town to a bread store that has the greatest deals. I can't believe Mandy would venture that far away into a scarey section to get such good deals but she has become very adventurous since she moved to Texas! That night we ate at the best Pizza Buffet called CICI'S. They have all kinds of pizza, salads, the most delicious garlic bread sticks...ummm, cinnamon rolls, and brownies and it's all you can eat! We really filled up!

FRI. MARCH26 A VISIT WITH MY NIECE JOY Joy's boy Logan and Mandy's girl Ali: 2nd cousins

Garn, Ali Joy, Logan and me

Mandy, Ali, Joy, Logan, and me
Joy has been battling cancer and has had numerous set backs but she keeps on fighting and is an inspiration to us all! We love you Joy!
Later that evening the "boys" Garn, Jon and Carden went fishing and we girls went shopping at a store called "DOTS" Great buys! I got 5 shirts and a pair of shoes. Sadie got 2 tops, Haylie got a hat and bracelet and she bought Ali a hat and bracelet too. Another favorite to put on my list!

Some of the slides with the lazy river beneath. You have to be a guest of the lodge to have access to the water park. It's BIG! Tons of water slides and rides.

TUE. MARCH 30

Mandy took Garn and me to Sam Moon to shop. It is a HUGE store with thousands of items from jewelry to purses, luggage, hair accessories and much more! I LOVE that place! We all found something: I got earrings and a wallet, Garn got a soft leather bag, Mandy got a cap, card holder, and earring and necklace set. (Garn and I had to sneak that in the basket because she won't buy anything for herself) She got Sadie a bag to travel to Utah, Haylie a cute purse, Ali a bracelet. We didn't even see all the store, it's so big, so it warrants another trip back!
Then we went to Old Town McKinney where there are unique shops and antique stores. Garn found an old cap gun and holster for Carden. He loved it. We ran across a store that sold honey cured spiral hams named "HAMM'S". That was my mother's maiden name! A fun place to stroll around and browse.

WED. MARCH 31
Coming home to SNOW and 34 degrees!
